It’s time for another fun Get to Know segment! This time we’re hearing from longtime Iowa ACAC member Stephanie Peters, from Morningside University!

What is your job title? 

Associate Vice President for Admissions

Best part of your job? 

I love my team (who I affectionately refer to as the A-Team) and I love knowing that we are playing a role in helping students make one of the most important decisions in their lives. And without a doubt, I love being a part of the Morningside community and seeing the incredible experiences our students are having.

How long have you been involved with Iowa ACAC? What has been your involvement in the past?

I will soon be celebrating the completion of my 22nd year in the world of Admissions. I have been a member of Iowa ACAC for nearly just as long. I previously served on the Executive Board as the chair of the Professional Development committee and was a member of the committee for years outside of that. I have many fond memories of the great groups of people who I was privileged to work alongside with to plan and execute ACU (Admission Counselor University).  Ahhhh....the good ole days :-)

What is your favorite memory from your time with Iowa ACAC? 

Kind of gave this away with the last question....we had a TON of fun with the groups that participated in ACU. Trying to figure out who would still develop film for disposable cameras (photo scavenger hunt) was a unique but fun challenge.

Advice for anyone starting out in the world of higher ed?

This is far more than just a 'job'. You have to have a passion for what you are doing and make meaningful connections. The reward is all in knowing that you are impacting the lives of young people and our future leaders.

What else should we know about you? Any fun facts, etc.? 

I am a rabid Chicago Cubs Fan and a mom of two boys. Most of my 'fun' activities revolve around my boys' activities and chasing them around (which I wouldn't trade for the world). Oh...and I love lima beans. :-)
