Resolutions Out, VTH Goals In!

This year don't set resolutions, set goals instead and make a difference.

The Government Relations committee warmly welcomes all of you to join us on Thursday, February 27, at Baratta’s Forte Banquet & Conference Center in Des Moines, Iowa, for Visit the Hill 2020. Take a glance at the 5 goals you could accomplish by attending this year’s event:Did you know 80% of people fail to keep their New Year’s resolution? There are many reasons people can’t stick to their resolutions, from setting too many of them to getting derailed by small failures. Instead of setting resolutions this year, set goals. A fantastic way to start the new year is by setting a goal to attend Visit the Hill.

1. Use your voice to make a difference.

2. Keep up to date on current issues that affect education in the state of Iowa.

3. Connect with other professionals.

4. Check out the Iowa Capitol’s golden dome which, fun fact, is covered with tissue-paper thin sheets of pure 23-carat gold.

5. Eat free food!

Sessions at Visit the Hill will cover a wide range of topics, from learning more about undocumented students, to protecting kids/stop bullying – and much more. Attendees will also undergo advocacy training and, most importantly, take a visit to the Iowa State Capitol to speak with state and local representatives.

There is no cost to participate in the Visit the Hill program. Register yourself and bring along secondary and postsecondary students. Let them be a part of the process and learn from a visit to the Hill!

Travel scholarships are available to assist with some of your costs.
