The 2020 NACAC National Conference is September 24-26, 2020...and it's in our backyard! 

While the 2019 NACAC National Conference is still fresh in my mind, I want to encourage Iowans to consider looking ahead to next year, when the 2020 Conference will be held in Minneapolis, MN. Here are some of the top reasons why you should “check the box” and attend the 2020 NACAC National Conference: 

May I remind you that next year’s conference location is Minneapolis. Due to the sheer size of the NACAC national conference, there are only 12-15 locations in the country that accommodate our 7,000 attendees. Bonus - Minneapolis is about as close as it gets for Iowans wishing to attend. 

Professional opportunities for networking. Having been fortunate to attend the last several national conferences, I’ve had the opportunity to meet colleagues from Vancouver to Virginia, and from Boston to the Black Hills. I would argue that the conference networking opportunities are every bit as valuable - if not more valuable - than attending individual sessions. There is something truly refreshing about having genuine conversations with colleagues from all corners of our world.

Like attending a college fair, where else can you have access to over 200 respected education vendors under one roof? Allow yourself time to check out the many vendors between sessions and presentations.

Speaking of college fairs, you will definitely need to find time to browse the Counselors’ College Fair. This event is quickly becoming one of the most popular conference attractions. Imagine attending a national college fair…with a twist - the prospects browsing the college and university tables are Professional School Counselors. Can you imagine shopping among 543 different institutions? That’s what happened in Louisville this year. It was a rush!
